Still in his early thirties (33), award-winning Neven Maguire began cooking at 12 years of age in the kitchen of the family restaurant, MacNean’s in Blacklion, Co. Cavan. In 2003, Neven took over the business as Head Chef and Proprietor of the greatly expanded MacNean House & Restaurant.
Neven currently cooks at his MacNean House and Restaurant, presents cookery demonstrations nationwide and his fifth book, ‘Real Food for Families’ is on sale now in all good book stores.
He also works with Dunnes Stores developing their ‘Simply Better’ food range.
Experience
Neven gained experience in many prestigious Michelin Star restaurants throughout Europe, including:
• Roscoff Restaurant, Belfast, Northern Ireland (1 Michelin Star)
• The Grand Hotel Restaurant, Berlin, Germany (2 Michelin Stars)
• Lea Linster Restaurant, Luxembourg (2 Michelin Stars)
• Arzac Restaurant, San Sebastian, Spain (3 Michelin Stars)
Awards
He has also achieved a string of prestigious Awards, both for his culinary expertise and his work at MacNean House and Restaurant, including:
• Food & Wine’s ‘Ulster Best Chef’ Award 2007
• Georgina Campbell’s Restaurant of the Year Award 2007,
